Way back when

Here are some pictures of back when motorcycling for me was new. Shell and I didn't have good supplies. We slept in a cheap tent that was too small and leaked with maybe one sleeping bag, a cheap blanket and never had a pad inbetween us and the ground. I didn't even own a leather jacket. We didn't have chaps or full faced helmets. No hand warmers, windsheilds, floor boards or big plush ride. We had open face helmets and a little 750 V-twin Honda. I had just got a set of throw-over saddle bags (wish I still had them) Sure we would have loved all of that comfort stuff, not being sore after a ride, staying warm and having some peace and quiet behind a whindsheild, maybe cruising to some tunes and never really feeling uncomfortable would have made the ride more enjoyable but... I have noticed that when I got those comforting things I still enjoyed the ride but it wasn't the same. I didn't remember how cold it was or even what the weather was like. It dulled the memories of the trips a little. Sometimes, when the trip is challenging and sometimes even painful it made for a better adventure. The tough rides are what I love to look back on.
