WHAT A TANK!

I found this gem on Craigslist the other day. I had to jump on it fast as it was a huge score. Got it for $75 bucks. Has new caps and a new petcock.

Mock up of the CB

Here is a mockup of the CB750 with a king sportster tank on it. I like the lines but I found a gem on Craigstlist. more to come later on that.

CB750 frame work

So I have been wanting to extend the back bone on my frame and started looking for steel. I wanted to slug it and then extend it about 4 to 5 inches. I figured I would have a hard time finding the exact size tubing I needed. Pops and his keen eye suggested some black pipe (gass pipe not grass pipe)... At the time I didn't know what to think. I should have trusted his wisdom. Well I was working on my backrest and I was digging in the welding cart when out of no where I found a 5-inch stick of gas pipe, the perfect size... (thank you Heath!) So I milled down the threads and PERFECTO!

Another CB

My brother spotted a CB out on the road and chatted the guy up. I wish he would have got this guys number. I really want to see this thing in person. Maybe he will be at the Bearded Lady motorcycle and freak show. One can only hope.

CB750 triple tree and risers

Here is a better look at my top triple tree. There were a couple big mounting tabs for the speedo and tach that I cut off. Then I got it close to where I wanted it with an angle grinder. The rest was hand filed. That aluminium is soft stuff.

Hodaka Harley

Saw this last fight night at the BW's in Elk River. I thought it was pretty cool. Slight Exile cycles kinda thing going except it actually had some color to it.

CB750 progress

This thing is starting to look like a motorcycle. Honestly, it isn't my A.D.D. this time. I just can't find the steel to get my frame done so I moved on to a new project. I took a day off of work to get some progress done on the CB750. No Kids, No Wife, just me and the garage. It was a very stress freee relaxing day. Even had a couple friend stop by on their nice "AMERICAN" bikes... So I got my handle bars welded up, made a tab to mount the head light and hand filed my top triple tree.

YUM YUM

Devoted the better part of a day to it but the pillion is mostly done. Need to get the dye back from Jer and then pick out some mounting hardware. Fun times await! Passenger pegs

Modified the stock pegs to make things work. Had my feet up on them for all of a minute. They felt fine but should have a longer testing. BlogBooster-The most productive way for mobile blogging. BlogBooster is a multi-service blog editor for iPhone, Android, WebOs and your desktop

New bars errr well maybe old but they are new to me.

So I picked up some old bars at a swap meet. Not sure what they are off of. There is a little pitting so I can tell they are a few years old but not ancient. They look like a taller and slightly wider version of the buckhorn bars you would find on a Sporty Hugger. So I chopped them up. Took out about 4 inches out of the center and now I am making them fit 7/8" risers. I couldn't find a better way to d
o it but since the 7/8 bar was fairly thick I took it to a grinder and made it a little thinnner on each end acting as a slug. This should make for a nice strong set of bars and give me more surface for welding.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness or something like that.

So every piece that goes into the parts cleaner comes out getting a bath and a blow dry. And snugly fit into a big ziplock bag ready for reassemly.

Friday night shenanegans

Went out to Bullwinkles to see my buddy's band Morosity. Good times were had by almost all of us. Jagermeister has ruined more than one weekend for me but this time it was Pop's turn to jump on that grenade.
